"The ultimate mastery of life is the balance of Being and doing." — Eckhart Tolle
A Sunday short post
Good morning beloved reader,
Once again, thank you for giving this writing a space in your inbox.
I have the sense — and perhaps you do too — that Eckhart Tolle is one of the global leaders ushering in this new era of Conscious Balance. He is a wonderful example of a man who is aware of, and embodies, the beautiful energy of Being or ‘Yin/feminine energy,’ in addition to the also necessary energy of doing also called ‘Yang/masculine energy.’
This quote exemplifies the kind of Conscious Balance our planet so desperately needs at this point in our human his-and-her-story (not just his-story).
"The ultimate mastery of life is the balance of Being and doing."
The fact that Eckhart Tolle’s teachings are followed by so many millions of people all over the world is perhaps evidence of how, as a human species, we are finally recognizing and valuing the masculine and feminine energies in every single human being, regardless of the gender of our physical form.
May it be so♥️🙏🕊
When you look at how, historically, it was such a challenge for women to get equal rights to work in the patriarchal hierarchies that make up our systems of education, law, medicine, politics, finance, commerce, corporations, etc. it’s ironic that women eventually also began to experience the limitations of the patriarchal hierarchies.
Within corporations, more and more women are waking up to the fact that we don’t want to play the game of life in the patriarchal way. We want the freedom to choose a conscious balance.
In order to operate within these patriarchal systems, women were unconsciously forced to play the game of life in the patriarchal/yang way — which is all doing and hustle, with no space for simply being and stillness and connecting with mother earth and all the other sentient beings on this planet — sometimes we forget we humans are not the only ones to live, survive and thrive on this planet.
I recently shared with a writer friend how, when the Thai Forrest Buddhist monastery took root on 250 acres across the road here in Temple, New Hampshire, the monks told us that when one of their monasteries takes root in a new area, local wildlife often comes back to the area. This has proven to be true here too. We’ve seen more bears, bobcats, moose, skunks, porcupines, foxes, and even more birds seem to be about these days.
Our neighboring Buddhist monks embody a balance of both Being and doing. Perhaps the enforced stillness during the Covid pandemic introduced the human population all over this planet to the idea of Being, to balance out continuous doing.
Eckhart Tolle was my first window into the spiritual side of life and to this day and I am still very much thankful to him for that. :)
I love this, Camilla! I couldn't agree more. I believe with my whole heart that we are collectively moving towards that balance (maybe very, very slowly, but it's happening 😁). I love that iceberg image, it really illustrates the idea so perfectly.
