I never really understood what dharma in Hindu context meant until, you just so eloquently explained it. That is such an interesting and important concept.

Thanks for sharing Camilla, I’m looking forward to part 3.

Hi Michael, great to hear from you and thank you for your kind support. And yes, I'm fascinated by dharma and how we do not have an exact equivalent English word - but the Japanese have something similar called "ikigai."

"Ikigai (ee-key-guy) is a Japanese concept that combines the terms iki, meaning “alive” or “life,” and gai, meaning “benefit” or “worth.” When combined, these terms mean that which gives your life worth, meaning, or purpose. Ikigai is similar to the French term “raison d'etre” or “reason for being.” https://positivepsychology.com/ikigai/

That is all so interesting and it makes me wonder what effect it has on English speakers that there is no word for such an important concept. 🤔

Thanks Camilla.

Yes! the recognition of these cultures of the need in our human experience for some kind of purpose; to be of benefit; to have a feeling of worth; to live one's dharma - to me, these are concepts we so desperately need in the West to help us transition out of the endless pursuit of materialism that abuses Mother Earth, which is one of the driving factors in our climate crisis today.

Yes, I definitely think a proliferation of these concepts in the west would be greatly beneficial.

Good to see your helping that cause Camilla.
