As I traced the arc of her work over the past year, an insight arose within me. At this moment in history—and herstory—we’re being called to cultivate one of the most overlooked forms of wisdom: the capacity to embrace paradox.
As Eckhart Tolle teaches, holding a paradox is a sign of wisdom.
During the pandemic, something Ecky said really stayed with me:1
When you are faced with a challenge—you will not immediately react, there will be an ability to face someone/something, to give it attention, this is an aspect of awareness. Or even give attention to an arising thought—some people may say,
‘Why are people so insane they don’t get vaccinated?’
Others may say,
‘Why are people so insane to take the vaccines?’
Instead of identifying with one or the other you can hold two seemingly conflicting thoughts.
