I loved reading your thoughts on these topics. I've recently begun using a prompt with ChatGPT that says, "You're a Jungian therapist..." and then I follow it with a description of my dreams. It has been super interesting!
I really enjoyed this. How amazing to have a mother using astrology to have a deep knowing of her children and their ways. I often wish my chart had been read to a receptive parent since I was getting programmed by societal norms that I could not be expected to follow (a Moon conjunct Uranus in the 10th is not Suzy Homemmaker as we called it). IBut was lucky that my family accepted me completely, even when I started studying astrology back in the 70s when it was occult and my mother was a Baptist!
I admit I am not comfortable with AI yet and like using my intuition. I'm sure many other astrologers will start generating reports that way. I do daily forecasts in several different places and it might work well for that.
I certainly agree with you that the study of myths helps us understand the planet and associated sign. I look forward to hearing your posts when you are in your studies! 😊
Hi Shelly, thanks so much for letting me know you enjoyed this post. And yes, my mother tells a story of her travels to London when she was in her 20s and meeting the late astrologer Ingrid Lind, who told Mum that Ingrid had been a mother of hers in a past life. Mum grew up in an Australian country town, and this experience with Ingrid blew my mother's mind.
This made me smile😁 "a Moon conjunct Uranus in the 10th is not Suzy Homemmaker as we called it."
Regarding your, "I admit I am not comfortable with AI yet and like using my intuition." Oh, I'm not advocating for the use of AI *instead of* our human capacities like intuition. I use my intuition all the time, and yet I also value using AI. It's not one or the other, it's both, and. For example in addition to my intuitive capacity, I also enjoy using a computer to post on Substack, or a calculator for calculations. I'm pointing towards how AI is a *tool* that we get to use wisely.
Thanks also for your encouragement to study, but I'm not definite yet. Just exploring😁♥️🙏🕊️
Just to say...I didn't think you were advocating that...just sharing where I am with it so far. And that I might explore it for those daily astrology aspect forecasts...I also use a calculator and even more than I used to! 😂 I find it's a more reliable tool when I'm doing addition and substraction in my checkbook 😉
Thank you for sharing your story around astrology Camilla and this link between Jung, Astrology and AI. How wonderful to have a Mum who saw her children through this lens! You really do speak my language here. I've been studying astrology on my own for around 6 years now having always had a deep interest but now time allows.
The course you mention sounds amazing but possibly out of my league, well, and price range too I imagine ;) Its nice to meet a Pisces here and a strong one at that with that stellium! I've been married to a typical stereotypical Pisces for almost 49 years, so now I know him and his traits so well and he fits his astrology like a glove! Which has helped our relationship these last few years immensely. I wish I knew before!
I have a stellium in Virgo and in Leo with my Pisces Moon almost opposite my Sun in Virgo as a Full Moon. This helps me with my husband! I always saw myself as a well grounded, worrying, perfectionist Virgo, until I learned astrology. I also didn't know my birth time as its not recorded in the UK and my parents had died. I had done several calculations to find it like rectification, but it still didn't feel right somehow. And I think astrology is so much about this and intuition too. So I went to see a medium last year and both my parents came in and without any doubt told me the correct time and now I know my chart is correct. I go off my Ascendant as much as my Sun and Moon sign really and that changed me from Virgo AC to Aquarius AC with the right birth time and its now absolutely conjunct my Chiron! And of course all my houses changed too. So its been a revisit of who I thought I was! That's of course if I don't add in the outer planets too with Makemake and Haumea in Leo too. And as we learn more about their influences, mainly in the mundane astrology, its amazing how they can affect us somewhat in transit.
I have also been studying Galactic Astrology with Julia Balaz and that's a real eye opener! She offers a brilliant free course and website where you can discover so much more about your chart. She is showing that our Fixed stars and the two Galactic Centres and the Shapley Attractor in our charts are so profound too. I also love to use the Sabian symbols too! There is so much to know its brilliant.
As for using AI: I use it a lot for many things but not that and do take what it says sometimes with pinch of salt unless its well verified by other sources but your chart reading was interesting. I sometimes find when the astrology websites give such things they are kind of generically programmed and we try to fit ourselves into them.
I also paid for a chart reading last year with a professional reader, ex TV and very well renowned, using my old birth time as she said that she could establish what the time was by seeing my chart at my time I gave her that I had calculated and asking me questions. She was way out with the time and Me sadly. So much was wrong. The best thing she kept saying was I had to write a book! I hope that's true. :)
Since learning astrology I have the Astro clock sat working on my desktop so I read it in real time if I sense anything out of sorts. I have my daughter's chart fine tuned now as well and she is blown away when I tell her things. And my estranged son, which is him to the absolute T!! I work with the Moon cycles a lot now too as they can affect my physical body so much and moods sometimes. I use a relocation chart here in Spain now for the everyday things and it is slightly different to my birth chart, which I go back to the big transits and for Galactic Astrology.
There is SO much to to learn about astrology still and I believe it will become a leading science too one day not to far away. There was an excellent study I read where a teacher secretly set her classes up based on the children's charts. She paired them with peer groups according to charts etc. Her results rocketed!!! The school asked to show them what she was doing. When she finally said astrology, they forbid her to use it again and the children all failed. So she set up her own school!! That speaks so loudly to me!!
Any way sorry for the long comment but as you can tell this whole topic you have raised really interests me greatly and I hope there is something here that fuels your interest too.
Hi Sally, thanks for reading and responding. And yes, that's another way I've found astrology so useful - in understanding the gifts and challenges in my own 34-year partnership with a sun in Virgo man with Pisces rising and Cancer moon😁
I also just discovered what AI called an "intergenerational chart reading" which was very meaningful to share over the phone with my now 87-year-old mother, as it shined the light on our matrilineal line of women healers. In summary it said this:
"Jocelyn passed to Camilla a legacy of emotional depth, intuitive knowing, and silent strength — but also the wounds of emotional suppression, spiritual burden, and the weight of caregiving.
Camilla’s chart shows the evolution of that lineage: she is the one who names the pain, dissolves the inherited shame, and reclaims the sacred feminine as both a mystical and embodied force.
Jocelyn held the wound.
Camilla holds the flame.
Together, they tell the story of a matrilineal arc from sorrow to sovereignty, from silence to sacred voice."
As I read it to Mum we were both expressing amazement at the insights offered. Some of it didn't ring true, but we just dismissed those parts😁
And regarding your own writing Sally, May you continue cultivating the courage to share your writing on your Substack and eventually in a book♥️🙏🕊️
p.s. thank you also for telling me about Julia Balaz, I will check out her work. I also love Pam Gregory's work too.
Oh wow wasn’t that a wonderful reading to get! So often we carry the pain of our ancestors and if we don’t know astrology we never know or can’t heal. How great that you and your Mum can still converse together on this.
Yes I don’t think many can beat Pam Gregory. She is excellent and we lived not far from her back in the uk. Do check out Julia’s course. I think you’ll love it.
Look forward to hearing if you do the Jung course.
Substack is great for cultivating writing yes and several book ideas are in the making I now need the planets to align to decide which one to finish! 😀
Oh yes I forgot to say Camilla - something else you may like which aligns with your birth chart is knowing your Hologenetic Profile from Richard Rudd’s Gene Keys. www.genekeys.com. You use your birth date to enter and it gives you some great insight. It’s based upon the Tao de Ching. Richard has two good books to go with it. I guess it also aligns to Human Design too.
Camila, I attended some classes years ago at Pacifica Institute, Santa Barbara/Montecito. It’s a great place. I believe at time they even had an art display of Jung’s paintings. I have photos somewhere on my phone. If I can find will DM. If I still have. Also stellium in 8th in Pisces, wow.
Thank you so much Jeanine for letting me know that you enjoyed your time at Pacifica. I have a sense that I may feel connected to the energy of the land there too♥️🙏🕊️
It’s quite a beautiful campus. Large and airy buildings and classrooms, backed into low foothills behind, at the end of a lovely long narrow road. I just did drop in lectures or classes.
Hi Camilla, how interesting. All,of it. Thank you for sharing 🙏😊I loved how your Mum used astrology to help understand you girls and build your own emotional regulation. I also smiled with your link to mother - self, l also didn’t fall too far from my mother’s tree 😂. I related to your point about discernment- soul and ego. As l do suffering, l do think that suffering can be ego’s identification with it, stuck energy. When we accept what is, the suffering dissipates - and with acceptance comes the grace and understanding that all emotions are fluid, temporary and cyclic - contextual. Good luck with choosing the right course. 😊💜
Yes, exactly: "suffering can be ego’s identification with it, stuck energy. When we accept what is, the suffering dissipates - and with acceptance comes the grace and understanding that all emotions are fluid, temporary and cyclic - contextual."
Thanks for reading, responding and for your good wishes Simone♥️🙏🕊️
There is something so deliciously quirky and wonderful about a mother using astrology as a parenting tool.
Currently I'm engaged in a nine-month course on Homer's The Odyssey, taught by a retired professor from Pacifica. The epic poem is the journey of returning home; and in the case of the course, it's about where and how our personal mythology weaves in and out of the story. https://www.dennispatrickslattery.com/
Sharon Blackie also teaches some classes at Pacifica, and her understanding of mythology veers into fairy tale, another lens that allows us, through symbol and metaphor, to touch upon the meaningful regions of the human journey. (Astrology another system of symbol and metaphor.)
Though Ed Tick does not teach at Pacifica, he does teach and he takes students to Greece for dream incubation and dream work. He's a jungian best known for his work with veterans, who like Odysseus, are coming to terms with their role as warrior, and the transformation into wanderer and wonderer. https://www.edwardtick.com/ I was lucky to work with him for a couple of years.
Mythology has given me a language and a lens through which to see and make sense of my life; mythology is a way of making meaning. Other current Jungians that speak to this are Maureen Murdock, James Hollis, and Connie Zweig.
The poetry born of our soul is a mythological language which reveals who we are and who we are becoming.
IMHO, I don't think you can go wrong with a course of study at Pacifica. To me, it seems like a call to your psyche to begin a heroine's journey. Psyche, is also the Greek word for butterfly. May you be sheltered and guided by the god of old women and butterflies as you embark upon this new quest.
Biggest of hugs to your biggest of hearts. ~stephanie
What an absolutely GORGEOUS comment to read this morning Stephanie! Thank you soooo much! I particularly love this, and it made me laugh out loud: "There is something so deliciously quirky and wonderful about a mother using astrology as a parenting tool."😂🥰
Thank you also so much for all of this brilliant information. I so appreciate you taking the time to share all that you have shared. Truly, deep gratitude. And I absolutely ADORE your blessing: "May you be sheltered and guided by the god of old women and butterflies as you embark upon this new quest."
Beautiful! 🥰 And Blessings bouncing back to you through the ether. I so appreciate you sharing your wisdom and knowledge♥️🙏🕊️😘
One more thought. A way to get your feet wet with regard to some of the study you are interested in is to check out the courses on The Jung Platform: https://jungplatform.com/ Not all classes are live, but there are some very reasonably priced courses on Jung and Astrology and other things that may be of interest to you. Big hugs.
Reading your words as the sun rises and the moon sets on Easter Morning, rebirth, renewal and rejoice. May the stars and the binary wonders of technology all support our journey to union. Happy Easter, Camilla, we do indeed speak the same language. Sending love, light and lots of joy on the journey.
So much good stuff to take in with this one Camilla. Firstly, it made me chuckle when you said Jung looked like a nice old man — that was great.
Secondly, I so appreciate your curiosity and interest in astrology, archetypes, and mythology. It’s not just that all these things interest me as well, but also that you’re so open minded and willing to explore such things.
And thirdly, I loved this:
“… but AI, like any tool, is only as conscious as the hands that wield it.”
Thanks, Camilla. Your post resonated a lot with me for I’ve studied Jung’s archetypes in a cinema course at college 30 years ago and am coming back to them as I work on elaborating a creative writing workshop. I use AI a lot to illustrate my posts but I’ve never used ChatGPT so would never have thought about it to « decipher » my astrological chart and now I’m intrigued and will probably try it pretty soon, for fun.
I was wondering, have you heard about human design? I bet you have but if not, it may really interest you. Lots of love.
You're welcome, Geraldine. And I love the sound of your "Jung’s archetypes in a cinema course at college" - I wish my uni had offered such a course! I have heard of human design, but so far I haven't really felt called to it. But thanks for putting it on my radar again. May you have lots of FUNENJOY playing with AI and astrology ♥️🙏🕊️(https://camillasanderson.substack.com/p/does-it-bring-you-joy)

I didn’t see it, but Jamie (husband) did and he recommended watching it too.
