The Dance of Will and Surrender = The Dance between the Sacred Masculine and the Divine Feminine
Wednesday March 29, 2023
Beloved Reader,
You may read on my Substack “About” page:
The writing here at The Rising of the Divine Feminine investigates and explores how it’s possible for a woman to cultivate the courage to claim her own spirituality in the world—especially in this day and age, as we complete the cycle of domination by the patriarchal hierarchies in all systems such as medicine, law, politics, and especially religion(!)—and move into an era of honoring both the divine feminine in addition to the sacred masculine.
In essence: How does a woman, in a patriarchal culture, claim her own spirituality in the world? And how can a man cultivate the courage and humility to listen to a woman, and to acknowledge and validate the female experience?
Everywhere I look these days I see something that points towards this phenomenon that I’m calling The Rising of the Divine Feminine, and I have to say it lights me up.
Recently I came across this brilliant TedTalk by Sarah Poet that, in essence, is about the Rising of the Divine Feminine—she just uses different words...
Favorite quotes:
“…we can bring CONNECTION if we understand the beauty in the polarities of these archetypes, [of the feminine and masculine] and that they exists within us all.”
“The masculine and the feminine archetypes are compliments, they’re enegies and potentials. You have all of these aspects of the feminine and the masculine within you and you may call on them at different times.”
“Masculine logic balances feminine intuition. Feminine emotion balances masculine cogntion. They want to work together. So we can balance them, or we can polarize them, or we can dance in between—all within one human. In nature, one would never dominate the other. But thousands of years ago, at the inception of the patriarchy—which is a social system that defaults power and authority to men—the sacred feminine archetype was systematically repressed. It wasn’t valued and it was even seen as a threat. So [because of our cultural conditioning] you and I have been defaulting to the masculine ever since.”
“When we repress the feminine, the masculine goes into a subconscious orientation. You can’t have one existing in a healthy way without the other. This is what we call “toxic masculinity:” the repression of the feminine and the masculine goes into a domination, control, and separation orientation.”
“We’re all experiencing this as a collective—a collective trauma of separation, domination and control. You simply cannot repress half of the energy that comprises the entire universe for so many thousands of years without massive consequence. We’re feeling it inside of ourselves, individually, and we’re also feeling it within our collective. Think about problems of domination and separation: racism, sexism, environmental destruction. At the core, this chasm between the feminine and masculine …is the cause.”
When she spoke about #MeToo: “Let’s be clear. What’s happening is a rising up of the sacred feminine.”
“Trauma against women has been silenced… every man who has ever hurt me by taking advantage of my body, or attempting to silence me, or repressing my equality in the workplace, has really done so because of his own repression of the feminine. It’s this collective wound of separation. And I can’t continue to point my own finger in anger when I recognize that I too, have participated in this unconscious programming suppressing my feminine over time as well.”
“In 2019, the American Psychological Association published guidelines for working with men and boys. At the same time, a paper was published that said traditional masculinity was marked by stoicism, competitiveness, dominance and aggression, and is, on the whole, harmful. And then they give guidelines for “treating masculinity.” This is dangerous because if we put all of masculinity into this subconscious or toxic box, we don’t have another map. We don’t need to treat masculinity, we need to reclaim the sacred masculine.” YES!!!!!
“Men aren't winning in the patriarchy either.”
“The true nature of masculinity is not harmful or toxic, it’s beautiful, it’s powerful in just the right ways, and it’s necessary at this time.”
“The sacred feminine rising doesn't want a world without men.”
“There is so much gender related trauma playing out in our primary partnerships. But what if our primary partnerships were a place where we could actually heal some of this separation that I’m talking about.
“When we come together in primary unions, of course that’s going to be the place where our wounds show the most. That also goes to show that that is the place for the most potential in healing. And I’m seeing it in the couples that I’m working with now. Each claiming their wholeness. Each understanding these archetypes and rebalancing and coming into greater intimacy and connection.”
(There is also a brilliant book about this called Partnering: A New Kind of Relationship by Hal Stone and Sidra Stone, published January 20, 2000.)
“The patriarchy historically gave positions of power to men, and women have been fighting for equality in the workplace for a long time. But I found that when I climbed that ladder and achieved those positions, I didn’t want “equality” in the workplace if it meant that I had to force down what I innately knew. Which it ultimately did. It’s wonderful to have women in leadership. WHAT WE NEED IS THE FEMININE—in both women and men—IN LEADERSHIP! Which requires some conscious reprograming and restructuring.”
“When the masculine and feminine energies dance within me in union, wholeness is restored. And LOVE is the result. Living from the heart is the result. And from there, there is nothing we cannot do or be, heal or create, as a conscious collective of people.”
To reiterate what I wrote above, everywhere I look these days, I’m reading articles, watching videos, hearing podcasts about this phenomenon—what I’m calling The Rising of the Divine Feminine. But it’s also true that it’s about the re-claiming of the Divine Feminine in addition to re-claiming the Sacred Masculine.
I have a sense that human beings all around the world, know deep in their heart, that this is the evolution of human consciousness that is now necessary to heal ourselves and our relationship with our Mother Earth.✨🌟💖🙏🕊️
